Deploying Orb across your own environments is straightforward. You install Orb on the devices and clients yourself or using our various deployment options.

But what happens when you don't control an Orb on-site? Whether it's troubleshooting a conference center across the country, or helping a family member with their Wi-Fi, there's no way to get real-time internet experience metrics from end user devices. Until now...

Introducing Guest Orbs

Temporary, remote access to user internet experience metrics

With Guest Orbs, you get real-time, remote access to any user's Orb metrics. You just invite a user using any of three easy methods:

The user will be directed to install the free Orb app and instantly join your space as a Guest Orb. You'll get instant access to real-time metrics to help troubleshoot and see what is happening from the end-user perspective:

How Guest Orbs Work

Any Orb user can create a Guest Invite directly from Orb Cloud. Navigate to Orb Cloud → Orchestration and select Create Invite in the Guest Orbs section.

When creating an invite, you can specify the Orb network, customize the invitation message, apply an Orb configuration, set an expiration period, and more:

This flexibility allows teams to tailor Guest Orbs to their environment. For example, you might create a short-lived invite for a weekend conference, or an ongoing invite for a university campus or hotel network.

Once the invite is created, Orb Cloud generates a short code, QR code, and deep link that can be shared with guests on the Wi-Fi network.

For example, you can print and post a QR code in common areas, include a deep link in a captive portal, or share a short code through email, signage, or event materials.

Built-In Security & Privacy

The device owner always retains full control of the Orb on their device. Guests can unlink their Orb at any time directly within the Orb app.

Guest Orbs utilize encryption and respect end-user privacy. Administrators see only internet experience metrics—never browsing activity, device contents, or any activity outside of the Orb app.

Any Guest who joins your managed network will count toward the total number of Orbs allowed under your account plan. Five Orbs are included free for all accounts by default.

Not Just for Enterprise Deployments: Help Mom

Guest Orbs aren't just for huge deployments. They're perfect for helping friends and family troubleshoot their connectivity. Send Mom an invite link via text message and she'll be prompted to install Orb and join your space in seconds.

Guest Orbs are available to all Orb users, including our free tier. If you subscribe to Plus, Business or Enterprise, Guest Orbs become even more powerful with included historical analytics.
